ESMA Vice-President to give keynote address at Second ELSA Investor Summit
The Second ELSA European Investor Summit will be held on 26th September 2012 at the Institute of Directors, Pall Mall, London. The theme of the Summit is "Best Practice, Regulation and Investor Protection in the European Financial Services Industry".
ESMA Vice-President and CMVM Chair, Carlos Tavares, will give the keynote speech on “Financial Innovation and Investor Protection”. ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority) is the pan-European regulator created in January 2011 by the EU. It has the power to overrule member states if they do not sufficiently address threats to investor protection.
Prof. Narayan Naik of the London Business School will present his groundbreaking research entitled “Life Settlements: An Empirical Investigation”, based on a large proprietary dataset of over six thousand life insurance policies spanning a ten-year period.
Decision makers in the European, American and Asian financial scenes, pension and hedge funds, legal and financial advisers, wealth managers, banks and financial institutions, media and UK parliamentarians will be invited to attend.
Anna M. Bailey, ELSA Ambassador and Summit Committee Chair, said: “The Second ELSA Investor Summit has as star studded agenda. The participation of Mr Tavares is already attracting wide interest as is the presentation of Prof. Narayan Naik's research. We are expecting a record attendance and recommend early registration to avoid disappointment.”
Patrick McAdams, ELSA Chair, said: “This summit is of considerable significance not merely for the life settlement industry but for all those stakeholders in the European financial services field. In its third year ELSA has already helped the industry recognise its future does depend on self-regulation and working closely with European and international regulators. The attendance of Mr Tavers is of real significance in this context.”
