RELEASE
THE FIRST EUROPEAN LIFE
SETTLEMENT
TRADE MISSION DRAWS NEAR
The European Life Settlement Association
(ELSA) welcomes America’s Life Insurance Settlement Association
(LISA) as 50 of their members descend on Europe to embark on the
first European Life Settlement Trade Mission. With under a month
to go industry anticipation is growing in preparation for what
will establish a new standard for accuracy of information and
provide the European investor with a realistic presentation of
the challenges and opportunities in the Life Settlement market
place. The four day Mission (February 23-26) will run through
London, Luxembourg and Zurich, where Life Settlement
professionals from the US will meet with both their European
Counterparts and interested investors.
Despite the lingering effects of a global economic crisis, the
life settlement industry is experiencing renewed interest among
financial professionals and lawmakers. The Trade Mission
provides a unique opportunity to gain an understanding of the
industry from the US pioneers who were behind its very
conception. 2010 will establish the important dialogue focused
on the risks and benefits for life settlement investors with
multinational interests.
Industry veterans agree that 2010 will see fresh capital from
new European sources. The agenda (which can be found on the
Trade Mission website
www.thevoiceoftheindustry.com/conference)
will focus on the renewed investor interest into Life
Settlements covering the favourable tax-environments of Dublin
and Luxembourg, risk mitigation and Best Practice amongst
others.
Patrick McAdams, Investment Director at SL Investment Management
and ELSA Joint Chairman, comments:"The secondary market has
grown rapidly in recent years and is expected to reach $31bn
face value per annum by 2017. With growing vendor awareness of
the secondary market, the increased desire of investors to seek
low-correlated returns, the continued maturation of market
infrastructure, and the growth of the senior population in the
US, the life settlements market is expected to continue to
develop and grow.
This inaugural ELSA Conference presents a unique and exciting
opportunity for investors to meet with key industry specialists
from the US and across Europe for the first time. Additionally,
delegates will leave the conference having gained valuable
insight into, and understanding of this investment class
together with the latest Market information."
